During my pregnancy in 2009-10, I was put under the care of the Silver Star Maternity Fund, due to ongoing kidney problems classing me as a high risk case.

The Consultants, Midwives and other staff involved in Silver Star were all incredibly supportive and caring during what became a rather difficult, both emotionally and physically, pregnancy.

I have recently taken up running and it has been a long desire of mine to run the Great North Run.

There is no charity I would rather raise money for than the Silver Star Maternity Fund and I am delighted to be able to give something back to this wonderful service, who give so much help to so many families.
